The Well-X is a men's 12-inch wellington work boot by Carolina features a pull-on, one-piece design that helps to keep debris like mud out of the boot. Wellingtons are also favored by welders and metal workers, as the lack of laces eliminates a point of entry for stray sparks and metal shards. With a brown leather upper reinforced by a leather welt construction, these men's work boots are exceptionally durable. Welt construction means that the upper is sewn to the outsole rather than glued, which extends the overall life of the boot by allowing for multiple sole replacements and reducing separation. Additionally, an extremely tough Vibram one-piece rubber outsole is designed for long wear. In the way of safety, a composite safety toe provides a lightweight yet protective alternative to steel that won't conduct heat, cold, or electricity. Moving on to the inside, a waterproof breathable membrane locks water out while allowing moisture to escape to keep you working in comfort. On top of that, a triple-rib steel shank helps to reduce added strain to your lower back and knees.

TLDR: I love these boots from the moment I put them on. It's a pretty good feeling when you put on a shoe and it immediately feels right; almost as if the manufacturer designed the shoe specifically for your foot. The CA9831 have more than met any expectation I have for a pull-on work boot. They are tall - taller than cowboy boots. Another reviewer stated to wear boot socks. Yes, wear over-the-calf knee high boot socks with these so you don't chafe your legs. Break in time was minimal and they fit perfect. There was a little heel slippage at first, but it went away after a few days of wearing them. If you've owned Carolina's they come from the factory pretty stiff, but once they break in, the boots are some of the most comfortable to wear for 8-12 hour days. These boots fit true to size. I'm a size 10 in most shoes. I also have high arches and slightly narrow feet. These fit my foot perfectly. For reference, I have a pair of CA 9821 lace up steel toe and love them for some of the more extreme logging and chainsaw work. Lace ups can be a real hassle though if you need to frequently take them off and put them on. I wanted a pair of boots very similar but in a Wellington pull on style.

This is a great boot for cold, wet construction sites. We have been doing a lot of trench work this winter and the boots have kept me dry and warm, and were comfortable from day 1. The toe box is wide (no pinched pinky toe) and they fit well. I suggest long johns or tall socks the first week, because these are taller than most wellingtons and rubbed my legs raw on the sides. For a Fall/Winter work boot they are very nice, and I've been wearing pull-on work boots exclusively for 25 years.
